Certified IT Professional, Certificate - CIT6
This program is designed to help students develop the skills necessary to properly install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, Students will also learn Windows Server and UNIX operating systems. This program helps prepare students for the CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, and Microsoft certification exams. Students who complete this certificate may continue their education by enrolling in the associate degree program in Computer Technology.

Program Notes
Students may start this program in any term, but note that not all courses are offered every semester. It is best to follow the established outline of courses as closely as possible (see the semester-by-semester graduation plan).
This program can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis. All courses are offered online.
College policy states that computer coursework is valid for eight years.
Notes About Individual Classes
IST 220 is a prerequisite for IST 256 and IST 257, all of which must be taken in the first semester. Advisors will need to enter an override in Banner for IST 256 and 257.

- Demonstrate the ability to use logical design techniques in creating programs and systems.
- Recognize and describe the personal computer hardware components.
- Install, configure and upgrade personal computer operating systems.
- Apply basic computer literacy concepts.
- Plan, design and construct a working computer network including appropriate Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) connections and protocols.
- Demonstrate the ability to organize data using current computer technology.
- Analyze and resolve security issues in networks and computer systems to secure an IT infrastructure.
- Evaluate and communicate the human role in security systems with an emphasis on ethics, social engineering vulnerabilities, and training.
