LPN to ADN Program - ADN5
Students who have successfully completed the practical nursing program, hold an active unencumbered PN license, and have earned a minimum score of the 65 percentile on the National League for Nursing’s Foundation for Nurses examination may be admitted to the ADN program after meeting the following additional requirements:
Admission: Acceptance into Piedmont Technical College’s LPN to ADN Transition Nursing program is competitive and is limited to 40 students to begin summer and fall (L-term) semesters. See the college calendar or website for application dates.
- Complete the following courses with a “C” or higher:

- Complete NUR 201 Transition Nursing and NUR 203 Transition for Licensed Practical Nurses with a minimum grade of “C” to receive exemption credit for NUR 101 Fundamentals of Nursing, NUR 139 Introduction to Nursing Concepts and NUR 157 Application of Nursing Concepts I. This is a requirement for progression in the transition program.
Graduate LPN students may also enter the program through the normal admission process but will not be eligible for the exemption credit without meeting the above criteria.

Nursing Application Process
Nursing is a limited enrollment program that has special admissions requirements. These requirements must be completed before you can be accepted.
If you are a new student, there are three key steps to complete before entering the Nursing program:
- Step 1: Apply to the college and complete the enrollment process
- Step 2: Take the necessary courses and testing to become Program-Ready
- Step 3: Apply to the program

National League of Nursing (NLN) Testing
Candidates for entry into the LPN to ADN program must take the National League of Nursing (NLN) test. When you are eligible for entry into the program, you must complete testing before starting the application process.
Health Care Program Acceptance Data
These are NOT the scores required to be accepted. These are scores from past applicants that were accepted. Since the applicant pool changes each time, there is no way to predict how high the application points need to be for acceptance into the program.

Guided Pathways are designed to assist students in scheduling the order of courses to become program-ready or to complete the Health Care Certificate for their desired program.

Apply to the Nursing Program
Once you’ve taken the necessary steps to become program ready, it’s time to apply to the program.
Applications are accepted for entry into the LPN to ADN Transition Nursing program on the following schedule
- Fall Entry (Greenwood Campus)
- Application Dates - June 1-16
- Notification of Program Acceptance Email Sent - Mid-July
- Summer Entry (Laurens Campus)
- Application Dates - February 1-16
- Notification of Program Acceptance Email Sent - Mid-March
Program applications must be submitted during the scheduled dates for this program to be considered.

Health Care Readmission
Health Care readmission students who fail or withdraw from a Health Care curriculum class must complete and submit a readmission application in order to be considered for readmission.
