Landscape Management, Certificate - HRT7
The purpose of the Landscape Management Certificate is to cultivate enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and skilled professionals that are equipped for careers in the field of landscape and grounds management, including the management of trees, shrubs, annuals, and turfgrass by providing them with theoretical and hands-on, industry and research backed training in the latest landscape management sciences, practices, technologies, and equipment.

Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Landscape Management Certificate is to cultivate enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and skilled professionals that are equipped for careers in the field of landscape and grounds management, including the management of trees, shrubs, annuals, and turfgrass by providing them with theoretical and hands-on, industry and research backed training in the latest landscape management sciences, practices, technologies and equipment.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to perform maintenance and/or operate equipment and tools specific to the horticultural industry safely and correctly.
- Students will be able to maintain plants in the residential/commercial environment using techniques such as pruning, trimming, planting, and transplanting.
- Students will be able to explain concepts of tree biology, identification, planting and maintenance practices, including pruning, tree risk assessment and disease management.
- Students will be able to analyze soils and soilless substrates to determine amendments and amounts needed for plant growth.
- Students will be able to properly identify and discuss the utilizabeth of annuals,perennials, trees, and shrubs common to South Carolina.
- Students will be able to utilize relevant horticultural computer programs.
- Students will be able to analyze a landscape site and determine cultural and physical activities needed to establish and/or management a quality turf.
- Student will be able to diagnose and provide solutions for biotic and abiotic plant problems utilizing principles of Integrated Pest Management.
