This certification is for students who have at least one year of experience as a maintenance technician or a returning student who has obtained a certificate in Mechatronics Technology I. This certificate will prepare the students for industrial robotics and programmable logic controllers used in automation.

Courses may be taken on the Greenwood Campus, Newberry Campus, or Center for Advanced Manufacturing Campus in Laurens.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Purpose Statement
This certificate introduces students to automation technology including robotics, microprocessors and PLC’s. Students who complete this certificate may continue their studies in mechatronics. This certificate is especially designed for returning students who have completed the Mechatronics 1 Certificate or for new students with at least one year of maintenance experience.
Student Program Learning Outcomes
- Operate and make corrective actions to an industrial robot.
- Operate and adjust robots and automated systems equipment.
- Demonstrate the ability to use a PLC and PLC software to maintain an automated industrial system.
- Test, analyze and troubleshoot industrial applications using a microprocessor-based system.
