CHM - Chemistry (CHM)
This is a survey course in chemistry for non-science majors emphasizing basic principles. Topics include atomic and molecular structure, nuclear chemistry, formulas and nomenclature, states of matter, chemical reactions, acids, and bases. Laboratory sessions emphasize applications of basic techniques and supplement lecture topics.
Prerequisites: ENG 100 and RDG 100, or RWR 100, or appropriate placement test scores.

Topics include organic chemistry, polymers, biochemistry, consumer and environmental chemistry, drugs, fitness and health. Laboratory sessions emphasize applications of basic techniques and supplement lecture topics.
Prerequisites: Minimum grade of C in CHM 106.

This is the first course in a sequence that includes the following topics: atomic and molecular structure, nomenclature and equations, properties, reactions and states of matter, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions and equilibria. Note: The lab portion of this course may require off-campus meetings for which students will be responsible for their own transportation.
Prerequisites: RWR 100, and a minimum grade of C in MAT 110 or appropriate algebra placement score.

(For students continuing in chemistry) this course is a continuation of the study of atomic and molecular structure, nomenclature and equations, properties, reactions and states of matter, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions, and equilibria. Other topics included are kinetics, thermodynamics, and electrochemistry. This course should be considered a basis for future studies in other areas of chemistry. Note: The lab portion of this course may require off-campus meetings for which students will be responsible for their own transportation.
